My name is Rahul and I am very new to this running sport, in running terms you can call me a beginner runner. This story is about my first official 10k run, BAPHM 2023, Pune. This was not the first time I was running 10k I had run one 10k before this one. Actually, the first one was a bit funny and weird as that was Brooks Time Trial Run, in that race earlier I decided to do 5k but when I started my run and reached my return point of 5k I felt I could go longer so I went for 10k and completed the race. Since I didn't have BIB so it was not counted as an official 10k and my colleagues were teasing me about that I mistakenly completed that 10k race. On that day I decided to do a complete 10k run which is going to be timed and medal also as who doesn't want to wear the medal of achievement, here it was a real medal BAPHM 2023. As this race was organized my own company where I work that is fitpage.
I didn't do any preparation for this race, honestly saying I thought running 10k is not a big deal, it's going to be easy peasy for me. I traveled to the city along with my colleagues as we had an expo there too.
Now on the race day when I got up and went up for the race, I was a bit of nervous along with excited too as this was going to be my first official race. I was a bit late so I ran towards the start line skipping the warmup session ( you should never do it). Everyone was very excited and their energy pumped me up too. After a few meters from the start line, my left ankle got hurt as put my foot on one of the dumps on the road. I felt like my race is over here but I didn't give up, I continued running but at a slow pace. After some time my pain went away as I saw so many people running and enjoying the race. At one time my heart rate went up like skyrocket but still, I managed to complete the race. As soon I saw the finish line and saw people cheering for me I got overwhelmed and I ran towards the finish line just like a mad. After the race when I got the medal, it felt like I have achieved a medal in the Olympics I know it's way too much of a comparison but yaa this is how I felt that time. I called my mother and showed her my medal, was super happy. This race taught me a lesson that it's not over until it's over as through all the hurdles in my race I completed that successfully. So this was my first 10k race story, I hope to run more races and enjoy this runner's high.
